Greater Portland Health is a community health center with 14 locations serving over 12,300 patients. Our mission is to provide high-quality, patient-centered healthcare that is accessible, affordable, and culturally sensitive. Our services include: medical, behavioral health, oral health, substance use treatment, chronic and infectious disease management, and psychiatric services. We also provide oral health services in all Portland Schools. We are committed to ensuring all members of our community have access to health services regardless of their ability to pay. Greater Portland Health offers a sliding fee scale program and we accept Medicaid, Medicare and commercial insurances.

Benefits

Health Insurance
We partner with Community Health Options to offer employees the most comprehensive and affordable health insurance. Employees may choose a PPO or HSA plan, and we offer the opportunity to open a Flexible Spending Account, or, if enrolled in the HSA plan, a Health Savings Account may be set up for healthcare expense coverage. We offer an employer contribution of $1500 into individual employees’ HSA accounts, and $2500 into HSA accounts with the employee and one or more dependents participating in the HSA health plan option.
Dental Insurance
Delta Dental insurance offers preventative care with no additional costs, and pays up to 80% of other dental services.
Vision Insurance
Delta Vision insurance pays toward a vision exam, glasses or contact lenses, and discounts for other optic services.
Employee Assistance Program
Life can be stressful. We support the employees by giving them the opportunity via UNUM to speak with a professional free of charge on topics such as legal issues, childcare, medical and emotional issues, substance use, and smoking cessation. All conversations are confidential between the employee and UNUM.
Paid Time Off
Life balance is an important part of our ability to offer high quality care. We encourage employees to use their time off to refresh themselves on vacation, take care of personal items, and practice self-care when ill. Paid time off hours are accrued each pay period pro-rated according to work schedule. Employees working 10 hours per week or more are eligible for the paid time off program. Full-time employees in their first year of work accrue 21 days of paid time off. PTO hourly accruals increase with years employed. In addition to accrued paid time off hours, Greater Portland Health offers employees up to one week of paid parental leave, a personal day, and a volunteer day.
Holidays
We offer 9 paid holidays; New Year’s Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples' Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. All locations are closed in observance of these holidays. Additionally, on Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving Eve, Greater Portland Health closes early, and eligible employees working their regular shift will be paid for the hours that GPH is closed.
Retirement Plan
All employees may participate in the American Funds 403b Retirement Plan. Investments include pre-tax and post-tax (Roth) options, as well as an annual employer discretionary contribution. Greater Portland Health matches up to 3 percent of employee deferrals to their retirement plan. All employees who work more than 20 hours per week are eligible for the plan.
Disability Insurance
Employer paid Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Life Insurance & AD&D insurance coverage for all eligible employees.
Tuition Assistance
Up to $1500 of tuition reimbursement is provided for employees who are continuing their education in a field related to their position at Greater Portland Health. Reimbursement is provided with receipts from an accredited education program or school.
Continuing Medical Education (MCE)
We provide support for the medical and dental professionals on staff to keep their skills and license current. Paid hours and continuing education fees are provided according to license type and renewal date. Additional reimbursement is provided for eligible professional dues, license fees, and subscriptions. Here is a partial list of staff who may receive CME support; physicians, dentists, social workers, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, peer support, and dental hygienists. Full-time employees that are not eligible for CME may apply to attend two days of paid, job-related training, for up to $300 annually.
Incentive Goals
Our employees are devoted to the shared mission of providing high quality, affordable, healthcare to the unserved or underserved in the Greater Portland area. As an incentive, five goals are selected annually that are collectively worked on by all staff throughout the fiscal year. Everyone has the opportunity to receive a bonus of up to 5%, 1% per goal, of their base salary if goals are met. Bonus payout is pro-rated based upon start date within the fiscal year.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are an important resource for Greater Portland Health administrative departments. We are in need of volunteers to help with general office tasks in our administrative offices.
